Across from my soaps at Fireroast Cafe in Minneapolis is a display of Gretchen Grace Jewelry. Her work is beautiful, detailed, and artistic, and I wanted to share more with you all! She was very gracious to be a guest in this blog post. Thank you Gretchen!
Here’s the Q & A:
When did you start making jewelry and how did you learn?
I started in college – I went to Stevens Point, WI and their downtown had the coolest little bead shop! It was a small town but a very artistic one, and they had the most amazing selection of gemstones!
What was your first piece of jewelry that you ever made?
I totally remember! It was a tiger eye pendant on braided string. I wore it as a choker, I loved it. And after making that, I was hooked.
What are you currently working on now?
I’m always making new items for Fireroast Cafe (a coffee shop) and my Etsy Shop. I rarely make the same design twice – I like people to feel like they found something truly unique when they buy one of my pieces.
I’m also doing jewelry for my dear friend’s wedding coming up. My friend has amazing style, so the creative/design process has been really fun. It won’t be super-traditional wedding jewelry – definitely elegant but hopefully different than anything you’ve seen before.
Who or what inspires you?
I’ve always been obsessed with the 70s – the fashion, the jewelry, the music – that era makes sense to me, stylewise. Now I create pieces for the modern bohemian…easy, breezy, down to earth woman who loves to accessorize 😉
